I’ve been sitting with this one for a few weeks, quietly using this practice amid the subtle yet distinct uptick in pace that accompanies our transition from autumn to winter. I keep looking over my shoulder, watching the last of the leaves fall as the palette changes, less tannins and more sparkles. A certain sepia is beginning to emerge and there’s so much clarity to be found in its minimalism.
I’ve just finished my morning riverside run and the quiet in the air is audible. Skies clear, footpath empty aside from a few meandering ducks as a crescent moon yawns its descent. It’s socks over leggings weather but gloves aren’t crucial just yet. The ember rainbow overhead has peaked but leaves are still falling; trees relinquishing their crowns not in surrender, rather, an innate and cyclical gesture of honouring.
