A Little, Often is a monthly feature on Balance Practice, offering a (practical) yoga-inspired practice to support you to come into balance off the mat, where it matters most. I’d love to hear your practice is going, please drop a comment if you feel like sharing!
Here we are in the gateway to autumn. How’s your practice going?
Last week I put out a little poll inquiring about what you’re most drawn to in the season ahead and so far most of you have responded (please weigh in if you haven’t already!) that you’re most keen on yoga-inspired practices. So here we are — A Little, Often. Amongst the many hats I wear and ways I serve, I am a yoga teacher, and I started this particular monthly feature to offer practical yoga-inspired practices to support you to come into balance off the mat, right where you are.
Yoga practice shifts alongside season and cycle.
Have you noticed? Sometimes you might find yourself on the mat more, or less, reaching for shoulder stretches, or engaging core strength. Sometimes we bend down and the floor feels farther away than others. Over the summer months opening up, shaking it out, and playful movement might have felt more timely. Or perhaps you’re healing an injury that has asked you to modify how you move on your mat, or through your day?
It’s less about “doing yoga” and more about responding to how you are in any given moment. It doesn’t matter if the floor feels farther than it did last month or last September… you can always bend your knees a bit more to find your feet. This is how we meet ourselves where we are.
