Good morning (or whenever you happen to be reading this). Writing to you a day early this Easter week to see how you are during this often turbulent season, and to wish you a restful pause.
When I tiptoe down to my kitchen in the wee hours I’m still somewhat startled by the light welcoming me to make my tea before 6am. The first thing I do is stand at the back door and gaze, awestruck, at our blossom tree. Its feathery white petals dot the grass below; confetti scattered to the soundtrack of pre-sunrise birdsong and bee buzz. Sometimes I open the door to breathe in the smell of damp, green, and growth. I marvel at the spring scene emerging and whisper to myself —
Good morning, spring.Â
Practices like this emerge in a timely sort of way. And, as usual, all you really need to do for them to land is to slow down, breathe deeply, and pay attention.

Everything is waking up. Nature is having a party and we’re all invited.Â
As ready as most of us are to spring into action, this in-between season’s winds of change are usually accompanied with a certain amount of turbulence. Too much, too fast, and you’re likely to encounter some false starts or resistance. Even the weather jumps forward and back. Peel off that woolly jumper but keep it close by. Grab your brolly even if the sun is shining. It’s a natural time of transition, day to day and moment to moment.Â
Spring’s earliest glimmers offer hope while still reminding us to take it slow and conserve our energy as we ease out of winter hibernation. Not *real* spring, the last month has felt like a nudge into transition, encouraging us toward the season ahead. Some weeks on, proper spring brings a distinct upwelling, a full rainbow of color opening, somewhat more dependable weather, and more stable energy levels, even as we continue to blow through this transitional time.
Our practices help us to stand strong and bend as needed through these strong winds.
More is coming into bloom this Easter weekend and it feels like a timely pause somewhere in the middle of spring’s two phases. Let’s step outside into the unfolding scene, take a moment, and breathe. Consider how you might join the party — follow nature’s lead — in your own time, your own way.
