Thank you for being here. I’m blowing out 42 candles this week and offering you a birthday gift of 50% off your annual Balance Practice subscription (that’s £20 for an entire year, less than £2 per month) now through this Sunday, November 10.
Wishes are meant to be private (are they?) but I’m bad at keeping secrets so I’ll share mine with you: timeless well-being. For my family, my community, myself… timeless well-being for you. The kind of wellness that comes with being fluid, spacious, intentional, and of service.Â
November invites a gentle pause, a nudge to nurture before the rush toward the end of the calendar year. This brief lull, it’s so needed as we close out 2024 amid so much turbulence in the world. We transition into a more reflective time and I’ve been thinking a lot about what I’d like to create and share with you here on Balance Practice.
I set up this space to explore the themes of balance and practice, and to offer practical tools to inspire and support balance in the moments when you need it most. This isn’t self-help, it’s about being well, where you are. This is a space for you to catch your breath and take what you need, and I think you’ll find that when you slow down, breathe deeply, and pay attention there’s a distinct internal reconnecting of the dots that happens. Well-being.
The possibility of becoming more well with age has been rising in me this season (deep bow to my longtime teacher
for seeding this and leading by example). I’m learning that this has so much to do with taking care of your mind — getting quiet (and quieter, still) and releasing things that are no longer needed or serving. Equally, looking after your body — creating a strong, vibrant structure, a fluid container of support and stability to inhabit. This requires practice.
On her recent birthday writer and endurance athlete
posited that each day we’re the youngest we’ve ever been. What a lovely way to view where each of us are in this moment.I’m not suggesting that we fake acting—or looking—young. It’s inevitable: There will be days when we feel crumbly and ancient, when we fall off our bike or need a nap by noon, but if we think of time as infinite, as a sky without end, we’ll always be younger than we’ve ever been.
I feel spacious just considering this. How about you?
Practice, mental and physical, like balance, shifts and evolves along with us. It’s also timeless. The practice, then, is to continually attune, align, and respond. Stay with yourself.
This is what I’ll continue to explore here, and I’m inviting you to join. Timely weekly writings and practices, free member events and retreats, and exclusive content and bonus resources from my new book Move, Rest, Recover all heading your way soon. As a paying member you’ll also have complete access to the archives (now nearly 2 years strong!).
Now back to the cake (
’s carrot cake, of course), please have a piece and I’ll see you here soon.ÂWith gratitude. xx
Happy birthday Erin! And thank you for including us all in your celebrations with generosity
