Over 20 years of writing and coaching yoga — in between creating three books and training high performance athletes, coaching corporate executives, and supporting pre- and post-natal women — I realized that what we practice on the mat is so much bigger than yoga. It’s about balance.
A busy mind, an undercurrent of demands, tightness or discontent in your body; or maybe you’ve been feeling like you’re everywhere but “here”? These are symptoms of imbalance we accept as everyday life and yet, we can use our intention and practice to disrupt the inertia of dis-ease and support our well-being — right where we are.
I set up this space to explore balance and unpick the notion that balance is perfection, a fixed point or end goal, an ideal to strive for… (spoiler: it’s not). Balance is an accessible practice for all of us, an ever-evolving adjustment toward our own center. That’s why I write a lot about the practicalities of practice, knowing that if your practice doesn’t fit in your real life, it won’t work.
Practice is, of course, incredibly unique and personal, and in sharing what that looks like for you, everyone in this community gains valuable perspective about how we too might practice for real as life happens. Being part of this community of likeminded practitioners is, IMO, the most energizing aspect of what we’re doing here.
