Opening —
What does that feel like to you?
Is it fresh air through windows finally re-opened? The resonance of reaching your arms overhead and inhaling deeply? Or a night well slept? That first morning sip of coffee, or tea? Spaciousness, a shift in perspective, new possibilities percolating…
Openings come, it feels, when our attention settles. We meet ourselves in the moment and, there it is — space. Renewal.
The curtains are open. Spring’s emergence was more subtle last month, revealing itself in dancing daffs and dropped feathers, rainbow flashes between passing squalls. We’ve been feeling for new direction. Now the season takes hold (“proper spring”, nearly?), the sprung forward clocks urging us onward. Momentum increases along with our pulse, pulling us toward the tide of incoming light.
We also have a long runway ahead, plenty of time to come into fullness and as ever there’s no rush to lift off and get there. Things don’t have to blossom all at once. Watch your energy ebb and flow like the rhythm of your own breathing, knowing there’s rooting to be done even as we rise to the quickening pace of the world and ourselves coming alive, again. Look to the trees for the remembrance that opening is a movement in and down, as well as up and out. Grow, expand, and widen your root-bound foundations as you reach and extend skyward. Feel your feet even as you feel the call to open and open and open…
Practice and feel the difference
We move into balance when we align our actions with these recognitions in the daily gestures toward center that we make to ourselves.
