As this month marks the first birthday of Move, Rest, Recover — my practical guide to rest and recovery — I’ve created a new set of restorative videos for you, inspired by favourite practices in the book. Use them to become more receptive to rest, to activate real recovery, and to strengthen your ability to reset when you truly need it the most.
This week: Opening.
Mental and physical tension accompany fatigue. Muscles tighten and shorten, and accumulated strain contracts the body, causing discomfort and postural imbalance. It’s in these instances that recovery asks us to open — to rest our body in shapes that support us to move in opposite direction.
Featuring gentle shoulder mobility, hip opening, and a deeply nourishing rest over the support of props, this 14 minute practice invites you to release the contraction of fatigue, and to create more space in your mind and body.
Grab your bolster, a few cushions or folded blankets (whatever props you have nearby will work just fine) and rest into balance. Practice and feel the difference.
Find your library of all your favourite resets (+ a new practice every Friday) here.
